11. What is WAP and GPRS?

WAP and GPRS are ways your phone can send and receive data. You need to have your phone set up properly for WAP and GPRS so that you can use Simtext.

Most new phones will come with their WAP settings already loaded so you will probably not need to do anything. Older phones sometimes require the user to download the correct WAP/GPRS settings. The networks can do this ‘over the air’ by SMS and it just takes a few seconds. The contact details for your network are given in the Simtext User Guide, and on the Simtext help site. We can also send you the settings ourselves but you’ll still need to contact your network if you don’t have your account enabled for GPRS data.

We highly recommend that if you have any doubts about whether your WAP settings are configured or not, contact your network prior to downloading Simtext.

12. Is my handset compatible?

You should check whether your handset is compatible before downloading Simtext. You can check on our website by clicking here.

We are continuing to update the list of mobile phones that can use Simtext and if you see your handset listed as ‘coming soon’ send us an email to let us know that you are waiting for it. If your phone is on the list that says ‘not compatible’ it means that in order to use Simtext you’ll have to get a different phone.

13. I’ve still not received a link to download Simtext?

There are a few possible reasons why you may not have received the Simtext download link:

a) The WAP settings may need updating.
WAP might not be set up correctly on your mobile. Please ask your mobile provider how to adjust your settings. Their contact details are in the Simtext User Guide and on the Simtext help site

b) WAP Push is deactivated on your mobile.

On some mobiles, WAP Push is "deactivated" by default. If WAP Push is deactivated, you won’t be able to receive any download links. (This problem occurs more frequently with certain Samsung and SonyEricsson phones.) Here’s how you can easily activate WAP-Push on your mobile

• Samsung: From the main menu go to "Messages", and then to WAP Push/Push permit. Please change the setting to "always".

• SonyEricsson: From the main menu go to "Messages", and then to WAP Push/Push permit. Please change the setting to "always"

c) Siemens:On some Siemens phones the HTTP and Java profile must be configured separately to the normal WAP settings. If this needs to be done you should contact a Siemens representative for assistance. You can do this at their website www.siemens.com/mobilescustomercare

14. What do I do if I forget my password?

Use the forgotten password link in MySimtext and we will send your password to your Simtext inbox so you can access it from your mobile, we will also send it to your registered email address. If you are still having problems click here to contact us by email.
